Some Nuragic settlements evolved into multi-towered complexes housing several families. At Su Nuraxi in Barumini, the settlement’s central tower was surrounded by four outer towers connected by massive walls, creating a formidable bastion with small courtyards (shown here, compare with photo of clustered huts).
