With its tongue hanging out of its mouth and its eyebrow arched in agony, a griffin desperately claws the thigh of a headless warrior, in a dramatic sculpture from the Andalusian village of Porcuna. The 40 carvings and hundreds of fragments from Porcuna represent the most significant collection of Iberian statuary ever found.
