Though produced as a cheap trinket, this glass bottle, known as the Populonia Bottle (after the town in Tuscany where it was discovered), is valuable as a relic of the ancient tourist trade. Small glass vials like this one were tourist souvenirs, not unlike modern key chains and snowscapes.
