Half-bird and half-woman, the alluring siren possesses an irresistible voice, and is the most seductive of mythological mankillers. In the Archaic period in Greece (700–480 B.C.), sirens appear on a variety of ceramic jugs, including this piece produced by a potter in Corinth.
