Those participating in the theater’s performances entered the arena—about 50 yards wide and 40 yards deep—through ten evenly spaced doorways (one is visible to the left of the fenced gate). The Etruscan motifs on the architraves over the gates suggest that Etruscan craftsmen probably built the theater under the supervision of Roman engineers.
