Like its sixth-century B.C. Etruscan prototype, now in the Louvre Museum, the delicate rosette brooch crafted by the Castellani firm shows a mastery of various goldsmithing techniques: granulation (decorative patterns formed from tiny gold globes), knurling (beaded edges), low relief (thin hammered sheets of gold) and embossing.
