A plan of the oldest house—known as the Herodian House—found in the excavations. The rooms are arranged around a central courtyard. The four circles in the same area are four ovens sunk into the ground. In the western (left-hand) wall of the house can be seen three niches. These had been used as cupboards for dishes, many of which were found just where they had been left. The steps leading down to a large reservoir can also be seen in the plan. At the head of the stairs is a small footbath for washing the feet before descending into the pool.
