John Bowden

Father Albert Jamme just after finding much of his life’s work destroyed. The wet and partially burned remains of his collection of South Arabian inscriptions are strewn about as students at Catholic University gather pages of notes and rare manuscripts before the wind takes them away. This photograph by John Bowden of the Washington Star was chosen by the White House Press Photographer’s Association as one of the best of 1975. It was displayed at the Library of Congress.
