Bench-room at Kuntillet Ajrud: Most of the plaster and pottery bearing inscriptions and drawings were found here. Travelers probably deposited their offerings here when they stopped at this desert way-station and religious center. The entryway to the building is in the middle of the bench-room, on the right, and the entrance to the inner courtyard is opposite, on the left. At either end of the white-plastered bench-room was a doorless storage room, where old offerings were placed when the bench-room became overcrowded.
