The Mound of Kuntillet Ajrud: A bedouin woman walks across the barren floor of the Wadi Quraiya, possibly on her way to the “solitary springs” which gave the tell its Arabic name. On top of the isolated hill, in the remains of a small building, Ze’ev Meshel found an unexpected collection of religious drawings and inscriptions left by early 8th century B.C. traders.
