Hezekiah’s Tunnel

The ancient water tunnel beneath the City of David where the blind are helped to “see” this archaeological wonder. Wading through the water, students experience the attempts of two teams of excavators almost 2700 years ago to meet beneath the hill of Ophel, thus enabling the waters of the Spring Gihon to flow into the city. The scalloped wall on the left reveals the ancient tunnelers’ mistakes, as they changed direction in their effor to cut through to the other crew of excavators.
