Hezekiah’s Pool: Shapira’s shop and Turkish-style house, replete with open courtyard and lattice-worked windows, looked out on this romantic spot. This ancient pool, mentioned by Josephus Flavius in his description of the siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., was called by him the Pool of Amygdalon or Almond Pool. A later tradition attributed the pool to Hezekiah.
