Inscribed funerary bowl: The first line of Jewish script inscribed on this funerary bowl reads “Ishmael [grand]son of Plata,” and the second line, “Shimon from Jerusalem.” “Ishmael” probably placed this bowl with the ossuaries of his father and grandfather (Shimon and Plata) to honor their memories. This first century A.D. funerary bowl is the first one of its kind found with an ossuary burial.
