Kensington rune stone: Composed by a Swedish immigrant farmer and his friends about 1898 in western Minnesota, this etching is an established fraud. Some of the runes are anachronistic; others are altogether invented; some of the words the runes spell out are known in modern Swedish but not in medieval Norse.
