The junction of the Roman cardo or boulevard with the city’s forum or main public square was discovered in recent excavations at Aphek-Antipatris. Twenty-six feet wide and paved with diagonally-laid flagstones, the cardo was flanked by a colonnade, shops and elevated sidewalks.
