An oil press from the 8th century B.C. (left foreground) was found in a house courtyard at Tell Qiri. Many oil presses, silos, sickle blades and plant remains were found at Qiri, thus revealing details of the economy of this agricultural community. At Qiri archaeologists are able to study uninterrupted material remains spanning nearly 500 years (12th–8th centuries B.C.) because during this period the village was never entirely destroyed.
