An aerial view of the main excavation area at Tel Yoqne’am. The zigzag walls (1) are balks or retaining walls around the excavation areas. On the center left the curve of the partially excavated Crusader wall (2) is visible and its continuation (3) is seen abutting the left wall of the balk. On the near edge of the tell is the Iron Age (9th–8th centuries B.C.) double wall fortification system (4). Earlier Iron Age fortifications (10th century B. C.) (5) are visible below the double wall in the foreground.
