A stone vessel found in fill near the southern wall of the Temple Mount is inscribed with Hebrew letters which can be read KRBN—Qorban or “Sacrifice.” On top we see two views of hte vessel and below a wax impression of the complete inscription. Also incised on the vessel are two birds—doves or pigeons. The vessel may have been used in connection with a sacrifice to celebrate the birth of a child since these birds were traditional offerings on such an occasion.
