On the eastern slope of Tel Beer-sheba Iron Age I levels (Strata IX–VI),from about 1250–1000 B.C. were uncovered. The excavation of these strata was restricted to limited and separate spaces between the walls of later Iron Age II cities which dominate the picture. Here we may identify structures from these later Iron Age II cities: (1) the city-gate; (2) storehouses; (3) the outer gate of Stratum V; (4) the water channel of Stratum II. Note also (5) the location of the well outside the fortified city.
