A painted drawing on a sherd from a large storage jar shows a seated woman playing a lyre. The ninth–eighth century B.C. jar from Kuntillet Ajrud in the southern Negev also bears drawings of male figures and a remarkable inscription which, according to one possible interpretation, identifies the lyre player as “Yahweh’s consort.”
