Joint Expedition to Caesarea
Carved into the bedrock of Mt. Carmel, this stepped shaft led to springs deep within the western flank of the mountain. From the base of the shaft a rock cut tunnel carried the spring water to the high level aqueduct which transported the water to the city of Caesarea.
