Bird-headed bowl. Light and graceful, this terra-cotta bowl was one of many which were originally elevated on high stands in the Tell Qasile temple complex dating to the first half of the 12th century B.C. The bird bowl demonstrates the talent of Philistine craftsmen who adapted local traditions to create their own distinctive cult objects.
