Underground arch. Formed by five smooth wedge shaped stones, the arch marks the top of an earlier unexcavated gateway directly beneath the Golden Gate. This arch had not been seen in recent times until the author fell into a Moslem tomb just outside the Golden Gate. Bones of a mass burial in this tomb partially obscure the ancient arch.
