Garo Nalbandian

Ancient archway forming apse of Sisters of Zion chapel. This massive arch and the niche to its right appear in the lithograph to the left of the large central arch. Here, in the upper right of the picture we see one edge of the large central span of this second century Roman triumphal arch in Jerusalem. The distinct difference in style between these Ecce Homo arches and the arch in the gateway below the Golden Gate suggests that the Lower Gate was built at a different, probably earlier, time.
