Mask-like eyes stare out of a woman’s softly molded face, and a single curl dangles down her forehead on this faience vase from Ugarit. Dating from Ugarit’s Golden Age (14th to 13th centuries B.C.), this six inch high faience vase is another of the treasures from the royal tombs in the Minet el-Beida cemetery.
