Monument (stela) honoring Tanit. Now placed by a pathway in a flower filled archaeological park in modern Carthage, this stela once marked an urn burial in the Tophet. Chiseled into the limestone is the schematic “sign of Tanit.” Above her head is the disk and crescent, which is probably a symbol for her consort, Ba‘al Hammon.
