Hidden silver and copper. Just before leaving Pyla, a silversmith hid these seven-inch-long ingots between two stones of a bench, expecting to return soon to his home and his work. But whatever the threat was that forced these craftspeople to leave Pyla, it must have been long term or even catastrophic because they never returned. Their hidden valuables were discovered only 3,300 years later by 20th-century archaeologists.
