A coppersmith hid pieces of a copper ingot, along with bronze tools and vessels, in a pit in a courtyard. Whatever the threat was that forced these craftspeople to leave Pyla, it must have been long term or even catastrophic because they never returned. Their hidden valuables were discovered only 3,300 years later by 20th-century archaeologists.
