A groom controls a spirited horse as two chariot groups confront each other on this 15.5-inch-high Mycenaean IIIB crater discovered at Pyla. Only a few pieces of this beautiful imported pottery were found in the large houses of Pyla, suggesting that the once-bustling trade in the Aegean had dropped off sharply by the end of the 13th century B.C.
