“Dog-leg” gate at the northern end of Maa. The two defense walls at right and left are each built of parallel rows of large boulders with a fill of smaller stones between. Another defense wall like these, 13 feet thick, was built at the southern end of the promontory, providing a superb vantage point for sighting any approaching ships.
