The Middle Pool of Solomon’s Pools, which were vital water reservoirs for Jerusalem, both in ancient and in modern times. Although the pools do not date from Solomon’s time, they probably were built at least 2,000 years ago. This view shows clearly both the masonry construction of the outer wall and the limestone bedrock shelves into which the pool was hewn.
