Crouching lion at Hazor. Yadin discovered this basalt door jamb orthostat in 1957, while directing the largest archaeological expedition ever undertaken in Israel. Found in Hazor’s 13th-century B.C. temple, the large muscular sculpture measures 6.2 feet long by 3 feet high.
