Still straight and sturdy, walls of a monumental hall in an Early Bronze Age palace have been uncovered at Ai. Within these palace walls, the later Iron Age settlers built their own simpler structures. A small, square space was walled off in the corner at the top left, and a thick, crude wall of roughly hewn stones extends from the rear palace wall, dividing the large chamber into smaller ones.
