Iron Age Ai was a small village, covering only about six acres of the 27-acre Early Bronze Age city that had thrived here more than a thousand years earlier. This photo, taken at the end of the Marques-Krause excavations in the 1930s, shows some of the typical small clusters of rooms that made up an Iron Age community.
