Nachson Sneh, Kibbutz Gat
A rare intact doorway to a casemate room. The lintel still rests firmly across the room’s entrance, constructed about 3,000 years ago at Ein Qedeis. In some of the casemate rooms of the Central Negev fortresses, archaeologists found stone roof-support columns standing in place. The doorway stands five feet high and about two and a half feet wide.
