Egyptian religious and magical symbolism influenced the Phoenician carvers of this panel, which probably decorated a piece of furniture. Found at Arslan Tash, the ninth-or eighth-century B.C. plaque shows two winged male figures wearing Egyptian headdresses. The Egyptian god Harpokrates as an infant is seated on a lotus plant between his protectors.
