Zev Radovan

This bearded figure once decorated a ceramic cultic stand from Iron Age II (tenth-century B.C.) Jerusalem. Part of the stand, reconstructed from fragments, has been attached behind the figure’s head. The heavy-lidded man seems to clutch the legs of an animal that he carries across his shoulders. Another pair of hands seems to appear beneath those on the animal’s legs; perhaps these hands belong to someone else who holds the nude male captive.
