An enlarged detail of the Holy Sepulchre Church on the Madaba map, rotated 90° to the left so that its orientation is the same as the plan. Referring to the detail, we may observe the following features from right to left: the steps; doorways—probably those shown in the plan between the atrium and the steps; a triangular gold gable with a central rhomboid window pointing into the red basilica roof; five black tesserae between the roof and the gold dome; possibly representing the Holy Garden; the gold dome—probably the one covering the rotunda that surrounded the tomb of Jesus in the Constantinian church.
