Meir Ben-Dov

Celtic rider. Bearing a shield and a spear, this bronze figurine is a memento of a Celtic cavalry unit that served in Jerusalem with the Roman garrison in the second century A.D. Only 2.5 inches tall, it was found near the southwest corner of the Temple Mount, in remains from Aelia Capitolina, the Roman city established by the emperor Hadrian on the site of Jewish Jerusalem.
