Diverse cultic stands: These are displayed in the Israel Museum. The limestone incense altar from Arad (tenth century B.C.), center, resembles the horned altars, but lacks the characteristic horns projecting from its corners. Collars of imitation petals ornament the cylindrical stands, left and right, from Tel Zafit (eleventh to tenth centuries B.C.) and Tel Amal (tenth to ninth centuries B.C.). The left stand appears ready to run away on its centipede-like legs.
