Bull’s head rhyton, a ritual libation vessel, discovered in the “Little Palace” at Knossos, Crete. The bull is made of serpentine, a soft, green stone particularly suited to ornamental sculpture. The horns, now restored, were of gilded wood; its eyes are highly polished rock crystal.
