David Eisenhower’s eighth birthday was the occasion for his grandfather to throw a White House party, April 1, 1956, attended by Reverend Joseph Uhrig. In the 1950s, Uhrig was the first evangelical broadcaster to be nationally televised; he counted the Eisenhowers and national celebrities among his millions of viewers.
