Sir Charles William Wilson (1836–1905). An English army officer, explorer and topographer, Wilson directed major surveys of Jerusalem and Sinai. In 1865 he published the first exact map of Jerusalem; it still serves as the topographical basis of Old City maps.
Wilson suggested that the Shiloh Tabernacle was located about 160 yards north of the summit of the tell, on a flat rock surface, a location also championed by our author.
