Arrows in the drawings point to examples of these narrow slits into which the gold sheets were fitted—on the base, in the leaves at the bottom of the pillar, in the body of the pillar and in the clustered stems at the top. Section drawings, or imaginary horizontal slices through the pillar at points A to B and C to D, show the locations of the slits as though viewed from above.
