A single-sided louse comb dating to the sixth to eighth centuries A.D. was found at Wadi Farah in the Jordan Valley. It, too, is made of wood. Its original 44 teeth carried out their task admirably: microscopic examination revealed four lice and 88 louse eggs caught between the comb’s teeth.
