Elegant chalices, decorated with painted triangles and diagonal lines. The triangles on these three seventh-century B.C.E. drinking vessels may be a graphic representation of triangular windows cut into ceramic cult stands, such as the well-known “musicians” stand from Ashdod. The chalice at left comes from the city’s northern industrial zone; the middle chalice was found in the olive-oil installation room; the one at right is from the elite domestic zone in the center of the lower city.
