Shiqmim. The glitter from thousands of pieces of chipped flint, stone tools and other artifacts first alerted the author to the presence of this site. The stone foundation walls of a Chalcolithic house and courtyard, excavated in the upper levels at Shiqmim, appear as a rectangle in this photo. Finding remains close to the ground surface at Shiqmim, the archaeologists had easy access to the ancient village, enabling them to uncover more of its full extent than is usual in excavations.
