Among the thousands of Byzantine pottery sherds uncovered at Ein Yael are fragments of slipper-type oil lamps bearing parts of Greek inscriptions based on the well-known formula: “The light of Christ shines beautifully for all.” Excavators also discovered a complete slipper-type oil lamp bearing a cross; the drawings show a top view and a side view with the upper half cut away to reveal the cross-section of the lamp’s wall.
