A vital clue. Cartouches—oblong rings containing hieroglyphs of a pharach’s name—appear on a pithos, or large storage jar. Found in the structure at Tell-el-Farah (south), the cartouches with the name of Seti II (c. 1200–1194 B.C.) prove that the building was still used by Egyptians early in the 12th century B.C.
