Safe from termites, under the water of Caesarea’s ancient harbor, a 2,000-year-old wooden form displays superb preservation to an investigating diver. During construction of King Herod’s great harbor (22–10 B.C.), hydraulic concrete was poured into the form to create the foundation for the harbor’s lighthouse.
